| In 1963, 35 obsolescent B-47Es
were modified as electronics communications aircraft under the designation EB-47L. The
EB-47Ls, equipped with AN/ARC-89 (V) communications relay transceivers were operated by
Post Attack Command Control Squadrons, and served as relay stations between other aircraft
or between aircraft and ground stations during and after a nuclear attack. |
